As many of you may be aware, Mannings are unfortunately closing down its business and Sean is retiring. May I take this opportunity to wish Sean all the very best for his retirement and thank him and his staff for all they have done over the years for the Club. Enjoy Sean. However, this will mean a small change to the booking system when fishing Brownwich Pond. There will be a new number, and this is the only number that you can use to book a swim. The phone will be manned Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. The phone WILL NOT be answered outside of these hours. You can still book a week in advance for now but this may change later. If there is no reply, please be patient and ring later, they may be driving or on their own phone. This new number, 07831 327307 will be available from Monday August 1st 2022 at 0900hrs. As normal, use this number to cancel a booking that you can no longer attend. Mannings will cease taking bookings from Saturday July 30th 2022. Please DO NOT phone the pond warden to book a swim at any time.
Due to adverse weather conditions we are changing the Sunday match timings at Tithe Barn – Middle/Bottom. 0600 draw, All in 0700, All out 1200. Please all be aware of extreme heat forecast for Sunday and be prepared for the conditions. Anyone fishing the Middle or Bottom lake over Saturday, please be off by 05.30am Sunday. The lakes will be free again from 1300hrs Sunday. Many thanks
Earlier this year the club was asked by Drennan international if they could film a video about small rivers and Gudgeon on the Wally, this was granted, so in March Robbie the Warden met up with Lawrence Hanger and Jack Griffiths at Cheesemans and fished/filmed there and Bridge Street. You will see in the video the boy like excitement Jack has which the Wally seems to exude and it also captures the magic of the river.
The next club match will be held at Tithe Barn Middle/Bottom Lakes on Sunday 17th July 2022. Draw will be 08:30, All in 10:00 and All out 15:00. If you are fishing Tithe Middle over Saturday night please be off by 07:00 Sunday. Many thanks
Please note that Brownwich Pond will be closed to fishing as from Friday July 15th at 8am until 5pm on Saturday 16th July.
This means anyone fishing on Thursday night must be off the water by 8am and the work will start at 9am. I anticipate that this work will take more than one day so the lake will remain shut for the Friday night and work will continue on the Saturday with the lake reopening at 5pm on the Saturday for fishing.
This work is heavy and awkward so anyone who can attend are more than welcome. Tea and coffee will be supplied at intervals
If we are successful in dealing with the tree and making the area safe, Badgers will be reopened on the Saturday night.
Apologies for any inconvenience, but this cannot be helped.
Please be aware that we have had a large section of an oak tree come down and the remaining is considered to be a risk to anglers, so we have closed Badgers swim for the time being until we can deal with this issue. Please do not enter this swim, as these sections just fell without any warning. The task of removing the large boughs from the water will be a massive job and will mean the water being closed for a day in the near future. Volunteers are welcome. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter
We are having a tidy up in and around CRF Lake 2 on Wednesday 6th July from 16:00 – 20:00 hours ahead of the charity match. The main focus will be a tidy up in and around the lake especially under the rhododendrons bushes to clear the snags and trim up. Refreshments will be provided if you fancy popping in to help (bring a cup).
Please be aware that Baffins will be closed for the 3rd qualifying Float only match this Sunday 3rd July 2022. From 07:30 – 16:00. Thank you
A quick update for you all. The Lakeside water conditions have now improved and fish are being seen all along the lake. A number of carp have now been caught, mainly small fish up to about 3lbs. If you do fish the water, please let us know how you get on, either on the forum or by contacting Nev (Pond Warden) or the fishery team (Mark or Steve). We are interested in all catches and particularly the types of fish caught. You will be pleased to know that detailed costings are being worked through for the improvements we want to make to the water, and this should reduce the risk of mass kills in the future. Tight Lines!
