Brownwich Pond – Rule Update – 9th July 2025

Due to some concerns of the colour and quality of the water at Brownwich, it has been necessary to ban spodding and spombing forthwith. It is hoped that this action will maintain adequate oxygen levels and lowers the chance of an algae bloom.

The Use of Drones on PDAS Waters – 9th July 2025

Following on from a question posted on the Facebook Group we have discussed the use of drones on PDAS Waters.

We have decided the following: Taking off and Landing within the confines of a PDAS waters is not permitted by members who are angling. (This rule is with immediate effect, and will be added to the handbook next season)

We understand that we do not own the air space and understand that on public waters we cannot stop them being used, however we can implement the above. And therefore, if you are there in a member and angling capacity, the use of drones is not permitted on any PDAS waters.

Some examples to explain the ruling:

  • Fred is a member of the PDAS and decides to go fishing at Lakeside. While there, Fred decides to use his drone to look around the water – This is not permitted.

  • Fred is a member of the PDAS and decides to go for a walk around Lakeside in a non-fishing capacity, he decides to fly his drone to look around the water – We have no control over this.

Results hopefully next week which should help with coming to a conclusion on what keeps happening. We will re-open tithe top today (Friday). Thank you to all  members for your patience whilst we went through this analysis period and please can all anglers to send photos of any catches to Mark the PW on WhatsApp (Mark Davis Telephone: 07950 475288) and to get in touch if you see anything that looks wrong.

Sinah Closure – 4th to 6th July 2025

Please be aware that Sinah will be closed from Friday 4th July 12:00 (midday) until Sunday 6th July midday.

This private event is to allow for a memorial fishing event to take place for a good friend and club bailiff who recently passed away, allowing the Sinah team to celebrate his life and passion doing what he loved the most. We appreciate this is an unusual closure reason, however it has been decided that this is a fitting private send off for his close friends and bailiffs. Please respect the closure. Thank you.

Update to DC Rules – May 2025

All, Please note a new ruling regarding DC’s and Ban’s from the club with immediate effect.

“Currently, should a PDAS member be found in breach of club rules and subsequently receive a ban following a Disciplinary Committee (DC) hearing, they may be considered for reinstatement. Only once the ban has been served in full and they have submitted their application directly to the PDAS Secretary for the unanimous committee approval, may this membership reinstatement occur. However, the return to the club membership will now be conditional upon the ‘returning individual’ securing a sponsor, which must come from within the current PDAS Full Adult Membership. The ‘sponsoring member’ will assume all responsibility for the conduct of the ‘returning individual’, ensuring that all PDAS rules and regulations are adhered to. Should the ‘returning individual’ breach any further rules that results in another DC hearing, they will face an immediate lifetime ban.
In such a case, the sponsor of the ‘returning individual’ will also be required to appear before the Disciplinary Committee in relation to their sponsorship of the ‘returning individual’ and may face disciplinary action themselves in relation to any offences carried out by the ‘returning sponsored individual’.”

Baffins Pond Update 22/04/2025

A little update for you all. The swim markers have now been replaced, and the fishing line recycling point installed on the park side. Please note – we only have 9 allocated swims marked off currently whilst we work with the council to add another 1 to make out 10 limit. This is due to the tree’s not allowing a safe casting space.
