Following a recent assessment, it has become clear that the centre isle revetment at a certain point, is at imminent risk of collapse. This development could not have been predicted by anyone, and the severity of the issue means that emergency works must begin without delay. To allow these essential works to proceed safely and effectively, the lake will be closed from 1st June 2026.
We fully understand the frustration and disappointment this will cause, especially as we move into a period when many of you look forward to spending more time on the water. However, safeguarding the structural integrity of the revetment—and by extension, the future of the entire water—is our absolute priority. Without these urgent interventions, the long‑term viability of the lake would be at serious risk.
We want to emphasise that this situation is not the result of any action or inaction by the PDAS. Every effort is being made to ensure the works are completed as swiftly as possible, and reopening the lake at the earliest safe opportunity remains at the forefront of our minds.
We will continue to keep all members updated as the works progress. Your patience, understanding, and continued support during this challenging period are sincerely appreciated.
For health and safety reasons no members are permitted to visit the venue from the 1st June 2026 until further notice.
Yours faithfully, The PDAS Committee
